Trevor Herron was born and brought up in South Africa He lived through the dark apartheid era, including the time setting of this story.
 
In 1994 an African Government was voted into power but the overflow of feelings from bygone days still made itself felt so he took his wife and two sons of that marriage to Australia in the hope that the pain of division still lingering would be eased by distance.
 
He still returns every so often to his beloved country for a holiday and is pleased to note a definitive improvement in Race Relations.
