裴瑞拉遠在巴西故國的年輕時期，就熱心參與文學、社會、政治運動，到美國長住後，更積極投入公共事務，成立協會，關懷勞工、女性、原住民等弱勢族群，也注意環境及動物保護議題。然而在如此忙碌當中，她對國際詩壇生態仍然付出最多心血，透過協會聯繫全球會員，提供大家關心的消息，對當權者的倒行逆施，特別是違反人權的舉動，提出強烈指責。
裴瑞拉這些詩明顯包含內向性和外向性兩個面向。內向性的詩充分表現女性的感情世界，坦然揭露她的憧憬、夢想、慾望、失落；外向性的詩則懷抱大我的愛，關心被欺壓的弱者和受難者，呈現出對蠻橫強權的抗議和譴責。不同面向的詩作，讀來都痛快淋漓。
作者簡介
裴瑞拉 (Teresinka Pereira)
在巴西出生，年輕時即積極從事文學和社會運動，1976年成為美國公民。現擔任國際安全和平國家議會使節和議員、世界原住民組織人權部長、國際作家藝術家協會會長。榮獲馬爾他騎士、耶路撒冷聖約翰元首勳章、巴西國家戲劇獎、加拿大詩人協會年度詩人獎、巴西作家聯盟年度名人獎、國際桂冠詩人聯合會女作家金冠獎、雅典市獎等，到2009年共獲世界各國253項獎。1994年被選為拉丁文化協會國際事務主席。獲頒美國、哥倫比亞、荷蘭、摩達維亞、德國、蘇里南等國大學或學術機構博士學位。出版各種語文譯本詩集共38冊。

從事詩創作逾半世紀，作品逾千首，獲吳濁流新詩獎、巫永福評論獎、賴和文學獎、榮後台灣詩獎、台灣新文學貢獻獎、吳三連獎文學獎、行政院文化獎，另獲韓國、印度、蒙古頒予多項國際詩獎。
